For so long, ripping your DVDs has been a fairly seamless process. The only thing to note is, the location of the libdvdcss on Mac is now placed in the folder /usr/local/lib than /usr/lib. This hiccup just shows how good we’ve had it as Mac users. Once the libdvdcss-1.4.2.pkg is downloaded on your Mac, double-click on the pkg file and install the installer as per the prompts. Starting with VLC 2.0, libdvdcss is no longer available as an individual dylib in the VLC application package, which means HandBrake can no longer use VLC’s libdvdcss for DVD decryption. Insert a DVD disc into the computer drive, launch HandBrake and it will automatically pop up a new window for you to select the DVD and upload it to the interface. Sadly, one of the changes with this release makes it impossible for third party applications to take advantage of VLC’s DVD decryption capability.
